Joe Negron's committee financing the anti-Frishe (read anti-Latvala) attacks to the tune of $70K

Jeff Brandes and Jim Frishe are both good men, albeit two very different kind of men.

Jeff Brandes and Jim Frishe are both good leaders, albeit two very different kind of leaders.

Jeff Brandes and Jim Frishe would both make a good Florida Senator, albeit for two sets of entirely different reasons.

So what’s the tie-breaker in this race for a lot of folks?

Jim Frishe supports Jack Latvala for Senate President. Jeff Brandes? Well, it’s not clear who he is supporting for Senate President.

But today we are  learning that Latvala’s rival for the Senate Presidency, Senator Joe Negron, is bankrolling the anti-Frishe attacks you’ve probably seen on TV or in your mailboxes.

According to the Florida Division of Elections, Accountability in Government, Inc., the committee responsible for the attacks on Frishe, received $70,000 from Negron’s leadership committee, the Alliance for a Strong Economy.

Don’t get me wrong, politics ain’t beanbag.  There are going to be outside interests involved in the race for State Senate District 22.  There will be outside interests attacking Jim Frishe. There will be outside interests attacking Jeff Brandes. That’s the name of the game.

But why do you think Negron is financing these attacks?.  To keep Frishe from winning, obviously.  But also to keep Latvala from becoming Senate President, right?

I can’t believe my friend Jeff Brandes thinks it would be better for Pinellas if Latvala were not Senate President.
