State Sen. John Legg is endorsing Republican Chris Gregg in his bid for House District 36.
Gregg, a healthcare professional, faces Republican James Mathieu in the August 26 GOP primary for the Pasco County seat. The winner goes against incumbent Democrat Amanda Murphy in November.
“Chris Gregg has demonstrated a commitment to service,” Legg said in a statement. “As a small business owner, Chris knows firsthand just what it takes to spur job creation and grow our local economy. I’m excited to support his bid for State Representative.”
Legg is a Republican from Lutz, who represents Senate District 17, which includes parts of Hillsborough and Pasco Counties.
“Senator Legg is a true leader in Pasco County and has been a champion for education reform in the State Senate. Having the support of such a trusted leader is a huge boost to our campaign and continues to demonstrate the growing momentum and support we are picking up as each day passes.”
Gregg is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Flight Medic with the 37th Aeromedical Evacuation Group, based out of MacDill AFB in Tampa.
In endorsing Gregg, Legg joins outgoing Republican House Speaker Will Weatherford, who also hails from Pasco County.
