John Morgan goes “unplugged” with NSFW rant at post-debate rally for medical marijuana

John Morgan, tell us how you really feel.

The Orlando uber-attorney, a leading figure behind November’s ballot initiative that seeks to legalize medical marijuana, went toe-to-toe on Thursday with Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd at a debate sponsored by the Lakeland Ledger.

Judd is leader of the Don’t Let Florida Go to Pot coalition.

The debate must have went well for Morgan.

After arguing the merits of Amendment 2, Morgan laterĀ visited a ā€œget out the voteā€ rally, which quickly turned into an ā€œunpluggedā€ confession.

An NSFW one, at that.

Morgan, who admitted he got ā€œfucked upā€ at Outback Steakhouse after the debate, laid it on the line with the rowdy, mostly young audience.

“Shit happens,” he said.

In a video taken Thursday evening, Morgan – Ā drink in hand – is shown reminiscing aboutĀ having a ā€œmarijuana buzzā€ and smoking ā€œa lot of grassā€ when he had “got outside the border of Polk County.”

ā€œFor the reefer,ā€ the crowd chanted in response; a play on the famous Morgan & Morgan ā€œFor the Peopleā€ tagline.

ā€œGrady Judd is a good sheriff,ā€ Morgan rambled to the crowd, many of them in their mid-20s. “I won’t disparage Grady Judd.”

ā€œBut I’m here for one reason tonight and one reason only … to legalize medical marijuana.ā€

As he worked the room –and even when drunk, he is a master – MorganĀ consideredĀ the people in the audience his ā€œchildrenā€ today.

At the 2:30 mark, though, he really tells it to them straight.

ā€œYou lazy pieces of … you know what … if you motherfuckers don’t get out and vote … fuck it all … we can’t win, I’m telling you that.ā€

ā€œIf you don’t get out of your goddamn beds and vote,ā€ he added. ā€œWe will lose.ā€

Morgan then gets serious, asking Ā the audience to listen to this ā€œold gray motherfucker.ā€

He then told the audience about the time got the call when he was 21 years-old, telling him his brother was paralyzed in an accident, and how over the following 23 years, marijuana saved his brother from aĀ Ā life of constant pain.

“I’m not a marijuana guy, but I’m a family guy,” he continued. “I want to ask you, if youĀ do just one thing this Election Day … Get off your motherfucking asses and vote.”

It may not beĀ quite the same ā€œcompassionate careā€ argument heard elsewhere, but it certainly cameĀ fromĀ Morgan’sĀ heart — or something like that.

Morgan’s new stand up routineĀ is also available on YouTube.
