John Morgan has already spent $250K on medical marijuana initiative

John Morgan, the Orlando attorney famous for starring in ads for his Morgan & Morgan law firm, is making an enormous personal investment for an initiative legalizing medical marijuana.

Morgan gave $250,000 to the People United for Medical Marijuana in July and August; he gave a majority of the $327,026 the PAC received in the third quarter reporting period July 1 to Sept. 30, reports the Tampa Tribune.

As leader of the group, Morgan seeks voter approval of an amendment allowing Florida residents to use marijuana legally for medical purposes. The measure will need 700,000 qualified voter signatures before it goes on the ballot in 2014, says the Tribune.

Morgan, whose law firm has the slogan “For the People,” produced several radio ads supporting the amendment.
