John Schueler named Tampa Bay Partnership COO

John R. Schueler, President and Market Leader of Media General’s Florida Communications Group, has been named Chief Operating Officer for the business advocacy group Tampa Bay Partnership, according to Alexis Muellner in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.

Beginning October 1, the 64-year-old Schueler will focus on marketing, investor relations and new program initiatives for the Partnership, reporting directly to CEO Stuart Rogel.

“He has great executive and operational and administrative skills,” Rogel told the Journal.

For years, Schuler had an active role in the organization, the Tampa-based regional business development and retention organization that serves eight Bay Area counties. He recently served as the Partnership’s chair.

During his stint at Media General, Schueler supervised all the company’s media platforms in Florida, which consists of the Tampa Tribune, WFLA News Channel 8, TBO.com and 12 companion weekly newspapers publications, including Highlands TodayHernando Today, as well as the Spanish-language media company CENTRO.

There was no announcement of Schueler’s compensation in his new role.
