John Thrasher takes shot at former Florida House member Keith Fitzgerald for failure to disclose conflict of interest

Following news that former State Rep. and candidate for the U.S. Congress in District 16 Keith Fitzgerald may have violated Florida’s ethics laws by failing to disclose his conflict of interest in voting on more than $100 million dollars in appropriations for his employer, New College of Florida, State Senator John Thrasher is criticizing the former House member for his actions.

“I filed legislation during the 2012 Legislative Session that would have addressed this very problem – legislators with a vested interest positioning themselves to vote on legislation that can potentially benefit them or their employers.  It isn’t rocket science – citizens expect better from elected officials and it is disappointing that we find ourselves having to address this problem with individuals running for public office.”
