Judithanne McLauchlan may have made a big whoopsie in her campaign to unseat state Senator Jeff Brandes. In a letter to members asking for their support earlier this week, McLauchlan touted her service with the Junior League of St. Petersburg.
An anonymous tipster with the women’s volunteer group told SaintPetersBlog that McLauchlan was not in good standing with the league. We were unable to verify that, but today the group’s president acknowledged in her own letter to members that McLauchlan was not authorized to use the league for “electioneering.”
“In the past week, you may have received a letter from a local candidate and former Junior League of St. Petersburg member. This letter was unauthorized by the Junior League of St. Petersburg Board of Directors,” the letter begins.
“Upon hearing of this correspondence, we created a step-by-step resolution to handle this issue. The use of our logo and access to our membership directory for the purpose of electioneering was not permitted.”
The letter is signed by Junior League of St. Petersburg president Tuesdi Dyer.
Note that the letter refers to McLauchlan as “former” member.
Looks like McLauchlan just got busted in a bold-faced lie. With 4-days left until the election, it’s a good bet Brandes is going to take there to the woodshed.
