Jim Kennedy finished his fundraising run to keep to his St. Petersburg City Council seat by adding a solid $8,425 for the period Oct. 12-31. This puts the incumbent at $33,400 in overall campaign contributions for the District 2 seat.

Kennedy raised nearly three times the amount of his only challenger, environmental activist Lorraine Margeson, who collected $11,875 in total.

Some of the larger donors this last fundraising period, which ended Thursday, include the Realtors Political Advocacy Committee, St. Petersburg Association of Firefighters, Orlando-based real estate services Reiss Leasing and Willa Property from Winter Springs. Attorney David Sockol and his firm also gave Kennedy $1000 combined.

The last 20 days of the campaign, Kennedy spent $5,381, primarily on a mailer blast. The full price tag on his effort now stands at 28,210, more than double what Margeson spent. At the end of the race, Kennedy has $5,190 left in his war chest.
