Kevin Beckner leads in fundraising in Hillsborough Clerk of the Courts contest

Kevin Beckner had his worst month of fundraising in September, but he still dominates in fundraising between the top candidates running for the Hillsborough County Clerk of the Courts.

Beckner raised just $5,845 last month, but $122,211.50 since declaring his candidacy around Easter, when his decision to challenge local legend Pat Frank was seen as an affront to some Hillsborough County Democrats.

Frank raised roughly an equivalent amount of cash in September — $5,600. Overall, she raised $84,320.

Former Fox-13 consumer reporter Eric Seidel is running as a Republican in the race. He’s raised $47,233 overall.

Mitch Perry has been a reporter with Extensive Enterprises since November of 2014. Previously, he served as five years as the political editor of the alternative newsweekly Creative Loafing. He also was the assistant news director with WMNF 88.5 FM in Tampa from 2000-2009, and currently hosts MidPoint, a weekly talk show, on WMNF on Thursday afternoons.
