Kriseman calls Foster’s education initiative a ‘political stunt days before an election’

Mayoral candidate Rick Kriseman, a former city councilman and state representative, is shedding light on what appears to be the latest political stunt from the Foster administration.

Foster is unveiling what appears to be a newly minted education “initiative” today, called “St. Pete’s Promise.”

Kriseman explains that Foster’s initiative is simply a new name for the same programs that currently exist.

“It’s disappointing that it takes being on the ballot for Mayor Foster to focus on improving our schools the way his predecessor did,” said Kriseman. “A rebranding of the status quo is not a ‘new education initiative’ – it’s a political stunt.”

A large focus of Kriseman’s campaign is re-focusing our efforts on partnering with the school system on big projects that improve results in St. Petersburg’s public schools.

“As mayor, I will make sure the City works closely with the public school system to better educate our children and make our schools and neighborhoods safer,” said Kriseman.

The mayoral election is less than four weeks away.
