Lee County state Reps. Dane Eagle and Ray Rodrigues today endorsed Republican Senate Majority Leader Lizbeth Benacquisto in the special election for Florida’s 19th Congressional District.

Eagle represents House District 77, which covers Cape Coral; Rodrigues represents House District 76, which includes southern and coastal Lee County, Bonita Springs, Fort Myers Beach, and Sanibel.

“Washington could learn a thing or two from Lizbeth’s determination to do better for the people of Florida. I have witnessed her leadership in action at home in Southwest Florida, and at our state’s Capitol in Tallahassee,” Eagle said. “Not only is she a proven leader, she is a proven leader of integrity, which is exactly what Southwest Florida needs right now in Washington. We can count on Lizbeth.”

“We have a responsibility to our children, our seniors, our students and the brave men and women who serve in our military to send the very best Florida has to represent our families in Washington,” Rodrigues continued. “Lizbeth has my vote because she has proven to be highly effective while serving southwest Florida in the State Senate.

“She understands it’s going to take hard work and determination to get our country back on track – and that’s a fight I know Lizbeth can win.”

“Ray and Dane are tremendous partners in the House,” Benacquisto responds. “I appreciate their support and look forward to extending our partnership to Washington on behalf of the people of southwest Florida.”

Benacquisto faces former automobile-wheel manufacturer CEO Curt Clawson and former State Rep. Paige Kreegel in the April 22 GOP primary. The general election is June 24.
