A bill that would eliminate tenure for community and state college faculty is stalled, according to Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, a proponent of the billm reports the News Service of Florida. ?t? pretty stalled out unless the college presidents make a public demand for it,?Fresen said. He said some college presidents were quietly pushing for it but are unwilling to go public. When the bill was filed and considered in committee there was some reticence by colleges to support it. The United Faculty of Florida, which represents college faculty, opposed the bill and said it could harm the ability of Florida colleges to recruit and retain faculty.
