Without the support of the tea party, the legislative agenda of Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll of reducing corporate taxes and deleting $700 million in state spending would not have succeeded.
That was the assessment of Carroll at the Northwest Florida Tea Party rally Monday night at the University of West Florida, reports Carmen Paige.
“We got into office and did what we said we were going to,” she said to applause. “Believe me, your voice is going to be needed much more than before.”
Carroll encouraged the members to continue rallying.
“You have demonstrated you are not going to back down, and you have let elected officials know you are watching them and grading them, “she said. “That is what you are supposed to do, and that is why people fear you because you make us accountable for what we are supposed to do.”
