Casino gaming is big business and there are strong lobbies on both sides of the issue. But even though there are an estimated 180 registered lobbyists on the gaming issue, I doubt there will be the kind of spending that occurred in Maryland last year when two gaming giants, MGM and Penn National, took opposite sides of a gaming question. The issue was should there be a resort casino in Prince George Co., , next to our Nation's Capital, and spent something between $80 and $100 million on the question. FL is right to debate the issue, and hear the opinion of proponents and those opposed to expansion. But lets hope that facts, rather than innuendo, are considered when looking at the gaming impacts on Florida or other casino jurisdictions; before a decision is made.
