The Tampa Bay Times‘ Lucy Morgan is, deservedly, featured as an “Icon” in the upcoming issue of Florida Trend.
In FT’s interview with Morgan, she says, “The biggest thing I think we could do is get the money out of the political process.”
Oh, sweet Lucy, you never disappoint.
Yes, let’s get the money out of the political process! That way there will be no money for any paid media, such as direct mail or radio and TV commercials. No money for social media or websites or yard signs, either. Wring the money out of the political process and, Morgan contends, we will arrive at Utopia.
Of course, what journalist Lucy Morgan omits from this argument is that once all of the paid media is wrung out of the political process, all that is left is earned media. And who dominates that arena? Newspapers, like the one which employed Morgan.
Morgan’s argument is on par with the ads from Chick-fil-A which show cows urging us to “Eat Mor Chickin.” Great for the cow, bad for the chicken.
