The Florida Supreme Court will hold oral arguments this week in a closely watched case that challenges limits on non-economic damages in medical malpractice cases, reports Health Beat. The case stems from the death of Michelle McCall, who died after giving birth in 2006 at a Fort Walton Beach hospital. Her family is challenging damage caps that lawmakers approved in 2003 as part of an overhaul of medical-malpractice laws. Arguments before the court are Thursday morning.
