Politico’s Mike Allen reports that Attorney General Eric Holder and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will send a letter to all state attorneys general today asking them to be partners in protecting against Medicare fraud.
For Bill McCollum, this request couldn’t come at a better time.
McCollum is locked in a pitched battle with former healthcare executive Rick Scott for the GOP nomination in the race to be Florida’s next governor. Scott has closed the gap in the polls between he and McCollum by spending millions of his own personal fortune. Yet, Scott still faces difficult questions about his company’s role in a massive Medicare fraud case.
So what could be better for McCollum than an opportunity to talk about Medicare fraud. I almost wonder if Holder and Sebelius are on the McCollum payroll, the timing is that perfect for Florida’s AG.
