Republican House candidate Mike Miller is having a momentous week; not only has he officially qualified for the House District 47 race, but he also received an endorsement from prominent Florida conservative U.S. Senator Marco Rubio.
“As a conservative and community leader,” Rubio said in a statement. “Mike Miller has played an important role in helping others who share our values of lower taxes, less government and individual liberty.
“Mike was one of my earliest and strongest supporters and I’m pleased to endorse him for State Representative. He will represent the region well in Tallahassee.”
Mike Miller serves as Director of Marketing and Corporate Sponsorship for Athletics for Rollins College; he faces environmental consultant Mo Pearson and Frank Caprio in the GOP primary for the district covering central Orange County. The winner will challenge incumbent Democratic state Rep. Linda Stuart in November.
“Senator Rubio is a transformative figure for our state, our party and our nation,” Miller said about Thursday’s endorsement. “No one articulates the values of conservatism and opportunity with more conviction and clarity than Florida’s own Senator. I couldn’t be prouder to earn his endorsement in this race.”
Mike Miller also serves on the Winter Park Housing Authority and Historic Preservation Board, and is involved with the Winter Park Rotary Club.
