Mary Mulhern fundraiser set for June 26

Supporters of Tampa City Council Member Mary Mulhern are hosting a fundraiser in her bid for Hillsborough County Commission, District 7.

The event will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 26 the home of Mark Anderson and Keith Bucklew, 3110 W. Agawan St., Tampa.

Mulhern is prevented from running again for her current District 2 seat due to term limits. Instead, she is vying for the vacant non-partisan District 7 countywide seat, when term-limited Mark Sharpe leaves in 2014.

Organizers of the event include:

  • Mark Anderson & Keith Bucklew
  • Jane & Gary Gibbons
  • David Hall
  • Patricia Kemp
  • Sara & Mort Richter
  • Sara & David Scher
  • Linda Saul-Sena
  • Judy Tampa

Over the years, Mulhern has become a committed civil libertarian. She opposed the “militarization” of the Tampa Police department because of the Republican National Convention last year. Mulhern viewed the RNC Event Zone as an overreach, and in 2012, was the only council member to vote against the $2 million of federal funds used to purchase surveillance cameras installed around downtown Tampa for the event.

The suggested contributions are $50-$100 for supporters and $250 for hosts. Florida law sets a maximum contribution of $500 per individual or entity.

To RSVP for the event, or join host committee, email [email protected] or call Mark Anderson (813) 313-9208. To donate by credit card or PayPal, visit marymulhern.com. To donate by mail, address checks to Mary Mulhern Campaign, 2527 W. Watrous Ave., Tampa, FL 33629.
