Mayoral candidate Kathleen Ford ducking Tiger Bay debate

in Uncategorized by

The Suncoast Tiger Bay Club announced today that it is hosting a mayoral candidate’s forum on July 10. Bill Foster and Rick Kriseman, but not Kathleen Ford, are scheduled to appear

That’s because Ford is ducking the debate.

After saying she was not available on July 10, Ford then said she was not available when presented with three other dates from which to choose. Evidently, she said she had a deposition to give on July 10 and a two-week trial to plan for. Hmmm, a two-week trial for a lawyer who grossed just $17,000 in fees in 2012.

We all know the real reason why Ford is ducking this debate. Because it’s the public forum where she will be asked the toughest questions — questions she doesn’t want to answer when she is sitting atop a lead, however precarious, in the polls.

Tiger Bay ain’t some neighborhood forum held at a Hospice center, where the softball questions are served-up aplenty.

No, Tiger Bay is where Ford would likely be asked insightful questions, such as whether she agreed with Mayor Foster’s decision to fire her newfound ally, Goliath Davis, for not attending the funerals of murdered St. Petersburg Police officers.

I’d like to see her, as well as Foster and Kriseman, answer questions like that. Unfortunately, Ford’s too chicken to play with the Tigers.
