McCollum: Ban gays from being foster parents

Bill McCollum has made it clear he supports Florida’s ban on gay adoption. Now the Republican gubernatorial candidate is saying he doesn’t think gay people should be allowed to be foster parents, either.

McCollum told a Florida Baptist publication that state law should be changed to keep gay people from fostering. He was quoted as saying: “I really do not think that we should have homosexuals guiding our children.”

Asked about it at a campaign event Monday, McCollum said “it’s inconsistent that the foster care law reads one way, and the adoption law reads another way.”
