McKalip supporters to hold fundraiser at Bella Brava

David McKalip is looking for a little support from his fans tomorrow night.

A fundraiser for McKalip is scheduled to be held at Bella Brava June 4 at 6 p.m.. The event is to advance the neurosurgeon and Tea Party activist in his campaign for St. Petersburg City Council.

Leslie Curran, who cannot run again due to term limits, currently holds the District 4 seat.

The host committee for the fundraiser includes:  

  • Bella Brava owner Mike Harting
  • Mark Lettelleir of Modern Business Associates
  • Restaurateur Jon La Budde
  • Jay Rice  
  • Kelly Lee McFrederick
  • Former Pinellas County Commissioner Neil Brickfield
  • Anibal David Cabrera— Treasurer, Tampa Bay Young Republicans

The invite says the “expected contribution” from attendees is $250, with a minimum donation of $50. By Florida law, the maximum contributions are $500 per person or company per election cycle.

The latest survey from StPetePolls.org, McKalip trails civic leader Darden Rice in a heated three-way race. In the April 30 poll, Rice leads with 30.5 percent, followed by 17.4 for McKalip, 9.8 percent for Carolyn Fries and 42.3 percent undecided. The period to qualify for the municipal elections is June 11 through 24. The primary election is Aug. 27.
