Amy Ritter, 27, entered politics with a sense of urgency to fight “against the few who take advantage of the many.” Above politics, she values “equality, in gender, in rights, in access, equality.”
Amy’s first shot came from Joe Saunders who hired her as an eager though inexperienced intern for a municipal election in Gainesville. From there, Amy has worked for county and congressional campaigns in Florida, primary doing field work and organizing. Today, Amy serves as executive director of Florida Watch Action, Inc.
When beginning a campaign or project, Amy looks for energetic, like-minded people — and for people who never give up.
If she wasn’t working in politics, Amy would be working in medical billing or time travel. In the meantime, Amy will be continuing to work toward her dream of building “the movement that shapes the next generation of 30’s under 30, so that they can build movements of their own.”

Here is Amy in her own words:
I am 27 years-young.
I live in Orlando … Am from south Florida (Broward)…. I went to school at Broward Community College (now Broward College) and the University of Florida (go Gators). I hope to visit Fiji soon enough. Who’s taking me?
I entered politics because… I’ve always felt a sense of urgency in fighting against the few who take advantage of the many. h
One principle I always put above politics is… equality, in gender, in rights, in access, equality.
Person or people who gave me my first shot: (now Representative) Joe Saunders, who hired me as an inexperienced but eager intern for a municipal election in Gainesville.
I’ve already worked for/on: County, congressional and coordinated campaigns in Florida. Primarily doing field work and organizing.
When I begin a project or first work on a campaign, I look for… energetic, like-minded people to build an effective team with.
I’ve been blessed to have these people as my mentors: Susannah Randolph; Jeff Wright, Florida Education Association; Stephanie Porta, Organize Now; my father
The people I most admire in politics are: The ones who never give up.
One lesson I’ve already learned is… Never give up.
If I wasn’t working in politics, I’d be working in:
medical billing or time travel.
In ten years, you’ll read about me… having built the movement that shapes the next generation of 30’s under 30, so that they can build movements of their own.
