Tomorrow, a wealth of GOP lawmakers, lawyers and community leaders, many from the Miami-Dade delegation, will turn out to celebrate the start of the Daniel Diaz Leyva campaign as he runs for State House District 112.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday, September 20 at the rooftop of The Building, 2990 Ponce de Leon Blvd., in Coral Gables.
The South Florida attorney will face Democrat Rep. Jose Javier Rodriguez in 2014 for the seat that covers Brickell, Coconut Grove and parts of both Coral Gables and Little Havana.
Of the nearly 70 GOP political and business leaders from South Florida Cuban-American community who will co-chair the reception include Jeb Bush Jr., Puerto Rico Gov. Luis Fortuño, Hialeah Rep. Manny Diaz, Jr. and Nelson D. Diaz, Chair of the Miami Dade Republican Executive Committee.
State CFO Jeff Atwater and Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam will also attend.
Diaz Leyva currently is a partner at the law firm Infante Zumpano. He was campaign chair for state Miami Rep. Jose Felix Diaz, and was appointed to the Board of Directors of Florida Health Choices by House Speaker Will Weatherford.
Considered one of the young promising members of the Republican Party, Diaz Leyva works with the Republican State Leadership Committee to develop and mobilize conservative Hispanics to run for office. He is a graduate of Leadership Miami – the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce’s leadership development program – as well as completing the “Young Hispanic Leaders” program in 2011 established by the Fundacion Carolina and the U.S.-Spain Council.
