Michael Phelps took to Instagram after an emotional night at the Olympic Aquatics Center in which he upped his gold medal total to 21 with two enthralling wins, one avenging a stinging loss at the 2012 London Games.
The 31-year-old Phelps held on for a victory in the 200-meter butterfly, edging a field that included Chad le Clos, the winner in London. He got to meet some of his U.S. teammates afterward, perhaps the only athletes as famous as he is.
He then anchored the 4 x 200 relay to top off his evening.
And, of course, his family was there for a tearful celebration.
