Michael Reagan to headline Pinellas GOP Lincoln Day Dinner

Michael Reagan, bestselling author, GOP consultant and son of former President Ronald Reagan, will be the featured speaker at the 2014 Lincoln Day Dinner of the Republican Party of Pinellas County.

Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee event will be Wednesday, March 26, 2014. Time and venue will be announced soon.

The Lincoln Day Dinner is an annual celebration for most state and county GOP organizations, often held in February or March. After the passing of Ronald Reagan, the party used Lincoln Day events to celebrate the former president’s life and achievements, as well as an opportunity to modernize its message.

In 2005, Republican Senator Lindsay Graham quipped that they “don’t do Lincoln Day Dinners in South Carolina” since it was Lincoln’s election that prompted the state to secede from the union, leading to the Civil War.

“It takes a while to get over things,” he added.

Last year, Florida Governor Rick Scott and Attorney General Pam Bondi headlined the Pinellas event, which often brings thousands of dollars to county party coffers.
