The scuttlebutt is getting pretty thick around these parts as Rep. Jeff Brandes is still on the fence about whether to run for the State Senate.
While Brandes contemplates his future, local Democrats are hungrily eyeing his north St. Petersburg seat as a possible pick-up this election cycle.
Several names are being bantered about, including that of Dwight Dudley, a respected attorney who is also a relative of St. Pete City Councilman Bill Dudley.
Word around District 68 — the new District 52 — is that it’s Rep. Rick Kriseman who is recruiting Dudley for the seat and that Dudley is interested in running regardless of what Brandes decides.
I wonder what Kriseman’s pitch is to Dudley? Something like ‘Come to Tallahassee and be miserable like me.’
Anyways, Dudley’s flirtation with the seat is just further proof that it gets more interesting by the day in Tampa Bay.
