Tampa City Council member Mike Suarez celebrates his re-election effort with a fundraising kickoff event tonight hosted by commercial development firm Beck Group.

Suarez’s $100-per-person reception event begins 6 p.m. in the Beck Group offices at 220 West Seventh Avenue in Tampa. A spot on the host committee costs $1,000, with $500 for co-hosts.

Other hosts include former Tampa mayoral candidate Ed Turanchik, political strategist Louis Betz, high-profile developer Steve Cona, III and former Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Davis.

“The best part about serving in a citywide district is that I’ve had the chance to work in neighborhoods across Tampa on everything from improving public transportation to making city government more accessible to all,” Suarez says in the email invite.

Suarez, who currently serves as chair of the HART board, faces longtime Seminole Heights activist Susan Long.
