Nan Rich previews speech to Democrats she’s not allowed to give at Democrats’ event

Not given time to speak at the Florida Democratic Party’s Jefferson-Jackson fundraiser this weekend, gubernatorial candidate Nan Rich nevertheless released a prepared speech Friday that attacks Republican Gov. Rick Scott and touts her credentials.

Rich, a former Senate minority leader, described herself as a “lifelong Democrat,” a possible dig at former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist who is considering another run in 2014 after switching to the Democratic Party.

“I’m a Democrat because of our party’s values and priorities,” Rich said in the speech. Click here to read Rich’s speech.

Rich is the only prominent Democrat who has announced a bid to run against Scott. The party’s decision against inviting her to speak at Saturday’s fundraiser has spurred a controversy.
