New digital ad shows Marco Rubio getting key intel before GOP debate (it’s not what you think)

Marco Rubio’s latest Web ad shows the presidential candidate getting some last-minute data on the competition ahead of Wednesday night’s CNBC Republican debate in Boulder, Colorado.

In the 75-second spot, the Miami Republican is sitting at his laptop as he places a call for the latest information on “Cruz,” “Carson” and “Bush.”

“It’s Marco,” he says. “What’s the latest on Cruz … is he and or is he out … Because I keep seeing reports here about both.”

Rubio then asks about Bush, saying, “because he’s been kind of quiet this year, and you never know what with this guy.”

Next he is told to keep a close eye on Carson.

“Look, I know he started here as a sleeper, but I know he’s thrown the ball around lately pretty good.”

Rubio then drops the hammer on his conversation; he’s actually talking fantasy football, asking about Victor Cruz, Reggie Bush and Carson Palmer.

“Let’s keep an eye and all these guys,” he said. “And let me know… I know I have a debate, but I gotta get this fantasy football thing right.”

The spot ends with the tagline “Join the conversation. #cnbcgopdebate.”

The third Republican presidential debate, referred to as “Your Money, Your Vote,” will be shown live from the Coors Events Center at the University of Colorado beginning 8 p.m. Eastern time.

Rubio’s video is now on YouTube.
