New poll shows Democrat Patrick Murphy with one-point lead over Republican Allen West

A new poll out from Public Policy Polling today shows that a majority of voters in Congressional District 18 view incumbent Republican Allen West unfavorably and he’s trailing Democrat Patrick Murphy 47 to 48 percent. The poll also shows that West’s votes to cut Medicare benefits and his opposition to a woman’s right to choose are at odds with Florida voters.

“Rep. Allen West’s derogatory insults and repeated votes to destroy Medicare are clearly hurting him with Florida voters,” said Lee Anderson, New Media Director for CREDO SuperPAC, which commissioned the poll. “Rep. Allen West cares more about building a national Tea Party profile than he does about serving his own constituents. Our volunteers are energized and working everyday to mobilize voters and ensure that Allen West is sent packing in November.”
