Not that anyone asked his opinion, but Connie Mack’s coming to the defense of Marco Rubio

Not that anyone asked his opinion (losing an election should be evidence enough that not enough people actually care what you think) but former Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Connie Mack issued the following statement this morning applauding Marco Rubio’s leadership on immigration reform.

Mack said:

“Marco Rubio’s leadership in helping to craft a comprehensive immigration reform plan deserves the praise of all Republicans, not the condemnation and political attacks of a few.

“No immigration reform plan will be perfect. But Marco and others are leading precisely because President Obama has failed to act. And it is because of Marco’s leadership that we just might succeed in enacting immigration reform that protects and promotes the freedom, security and prosperity of our country and that appeals to most political factions.

“At a time when our political differences have made Washington beyond dysfunctional, Marco Rubio should be loudly applauded for standing tall and leading. It’s time for other leaders and public figures to follow in his footsteps. Senator Vitter’s comments attacking Marco Rubio are ill-advised.”
