Back in town for an extraordinary session on redistricting, Senate President Mike Haridopolos found himself addressing some unfinished business from the regular session that ended Friday, according to the News Service of Florida: The unconfirmed appointments of 400 appointees by Gov. Rick Scott.

Haridopolos said the upper chamber simply ran out of time in the final days of the session — but made sure to confirm a handful of appointments who would have been unable to serve without Senate action. “We got jammed up,” he said. The Senate chief was unapologetic about the number of farewell addresses and other ceremonial duties that took up time as the clock wound down. “That’s what happened, and the session’s over,” he said. “I’m sure that the governor will reappoint those he thinks will do a really good job.”
