Only Alex Sink would send out a press release at 6:30 on a Friday night

Look at the time stamp on this email from Alex Sink’s Foundation:

That’s right, 6:30 p.m. on a Friday night.  That’s when PR maven Alex Sink thought it would be best to send out a press release announcing the oh-so-small matter of hiring a new president and CEO for her, um, foundation.

As anyone who has ever watched an episode of The West Wing can attest, Friday night is when you take out the trash.

Along with weekends, holidays and the dark of night, Friday evening, when many news consumers tune out, is a common time to release unfavorable news.

Friday night is not the time when you announce something important like the hiring a new president and CEO.

For a woman who ‘wakes up every night’ with regret about losing her campaign for Governor in 2010, it seems like Sink has still not mastered the basics of public relations.
