(1) The kids were not in protective “custody” of the state, key word being “custody.” It’s a huge difference to even accidentally suggest that they were. (2) Federal spending increased dramatically during the Clinton admin, so it fails to reason that govt shrank while spending went up. Beyond that, this column didn’t have a message. Poorly structured.
