Parking restrictions, road closures set for Paul Ryan's visit to Oldsmar

On Saturday morning, Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Paul Ryan will make a stop in Oldsmar to rally supporters, reports William Mansell of Patch.

Ryan will make his appearance at R.E. Olds Park, 107 Shore Drive West, in Oldsmar. Doors open at 9 a.m. The event begins at 11 a.m.

Spectators are asked to park at Tampa Bay Downs, 11225 Race Track Road. Buses will transport spectators to and from the park starting at 7:30 a.m., said Lyndsay Keith, a Ryan campaign spokesperson.

“Hopefully that will eliminate any parking frustration,” Keith said.

Those driving through the area should be aware that the roads surrounding the park will be closed off around the time of the event. Law enforcement will be in the area enforcing blockades. Those attending the rally can park in the surrounding neighborhood at their own risk, say organizers.

Security will be similar to an airport checkpoint. No signs, sharp objects or umbrellas will be allowed into the event.
