When it comes to constitutional officer positions in local government, the election of the Clerk of the Circuit Court isn’t one that generally draws that much interest.
That’s not the case in Hillsborough County this year, where two well-known and popular Democrats, Pat Frank and Kevin Beckner, are competing against each other.
The Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections website shows that for December, Frank got the most in fundraising, taking in $8,250 to Beckner’s $2,455, his worst-performing month since he announced his candidacy in April.
However, Beckner still leads the arms race in raising cash with $149,234. Frank is now over the $100,000 mark, with a total of $101,819.
The winner will take on Republican Eric Seidel. The former Fox-13 consumer reporter took in $4,360. He’s raised $60,673 overall.
