Democrat Pat Kemp looks poised to take the Hillsborough County Commission District 6 race against Republican Tim Schock.

With 53 of the 340 precincts reporting, Kemp has edged out to a 14-percentage point lead, 57%-43%.

This is Kemp’s second attempt to win a countywide seat in the past two years. In 2014, she narrowly lost to Republican Al Higginbotham in the District 7 race.

Shock also lost to Higginbotham in 2014 in his first run for office in the GOP District 7 primary.

Kemp is an attorney and environmentalist, and if elected, will succeed the term-limited out Kevin Beckner, one of only two Democrats on the seven member board.
