Patrick Murphy, candidate for US Congress against Allen West in District 22, has expanded his outreach to national opponents of the TeaParty through a series of online ads on news and Democratic-oriented sites and launched an expanded version of his website.

Murphy, who announced his candidacy on March 15th, is using the online ads to target those who oppose the politics and rhetoric of the Tea Party. The ads feature Allen West as a Mad Hatter (alongside Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann) as well as the “Wicked Rep of the West.” Murphypreviously ran ads with West? face on a tea bag being dipped into a cup with Murphy’s logo on it.

The ads, found here, are an expansion of the online campaign featuring search, banner, and social media ads launched earlier in the month that have receivednational attention. As a result of the ads, Murphy has received contributions from across the nation and now has over 5,200 fans on Facebook. Murphy iscurrently the top congressional challenger in the nation.

“These ads may be tongue-in-cheek but there is nothing funny about what Allen West and the Tea Party are doing to the middle class and our seniors. Westisn’t any ordinary Congressman – he’s one of the most unapologetically divisive public figures in the country, in the vein of Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann. While we know there are millions of people who want him out, they’re not going to come to us – we have to go to them and let them know we’re taking it right tothe Tea Party,” said Murphy.

“When a voter in California or New York cares enough about their country to support a candidate in Florida with their time or money – that’s a big deal. It’s notsomething anyone on this team takes lightly or for granted. But it’s critically important we come together and prove that for every person that agrees Allen West, there are two that think his votes and rhetoric are wrong for this country,” said Murphy.
