In latest ad, Patrick Murphy responds to opponent’s (baseless) criticisms

To Patrick Murphy, an accountant by trade, numbers mean everything.

And numbers don’t lie, he says.

That’s why the Democratic incumbent congressman’s tenth television spot – airing today in the Treasure Coast/West Palm Beach market — relies on numbers to set the record straight on his first-term independent voting record.

“Truth” is the latest 30-second spot to run in the Florida 18th Congressional District, hitting the airwaves starting today.

“I’m a CPA,” he says. “Numbers are my thing, not my opponent’s.”

Murphy then adds a series of hard facts: in his first term, he voted 1,138 times, every one of them important, and bucked party leadership 43 percent of those times,

“When you go through all the numbers,” he says, “my voting record puts me in the top five percent most independent members of Congress.”

“Because getting numbers right matters,” Murphy adds.

In a statement, campaign manager Anthony Kusich elaborates that Murphy “has kept his commitment of being an independent voice” in CD 18.

“The overwhelming support his campaign continues to receive shows that his constituents agree with his problem-solving approach and want a representative who will do what’s best for them, regardless of party,” Kusich says.

“Truth” is now available on YouTube.
