Palm Coast Republican Paul Renner announced that he raised $76,500 prior to November 30, outperforming his four opponents 215-to-1 in the race for House District 24.

Renner, who lost an August GOP primary by only two votes in House District 15, took in a combined $76,500 through Nov. 30.  His fundraising overshadowed the $315 raised by all the others in the special election campaign for District 24, to be held on January 27, 2015.

“We are excited by the outpouring of support we are receiving from voters in House District 24,” Renner said in a statement.  “As the true conservative leader in this race, I will advocate for policies that bolster our economy, stimulate job growth, reduce government waste and over-regulation, and enhance our education system.”

Renner seeks the House seat vacated by Elkton Republican state Rep. Travis Hutson, who is now in the race for former state Sen. John Thrasher’s Senate District 6.

“Growing up in Northeast Florida, I will tirelessly work to help our families, businesses, veterans and seniors have a strong voice in our state’s capital,” he added.  “As the campaign proceeds, we will continue to listen to voters’ concerns and share with them our conservative vision for a better Florida.”

District 24 includes Flagler County and parts of St. Johns and Volusia counties.

Renner was raised in Northeast Florida and is a graduate of Davidson College and the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. He served 23 years in the U.S. Navy on both active duty and in the reserves, including deployments in support of combat operations during Operation Desert Storm in 1991 and in Afghanistan in 2011.  His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal and Navy Achievement Medal, among others.

Renner also served as an assistant state attorney, earning a strong reputation for his successful efforts to prosecute serious felony offenses.

As an attorney and partner at Milam Howard Nicandri Dees and Gillam, P.A., Renner represented many businesses.  He is active in the Northeast Florida community and participates in a number of civic and professional organizations, including his Rotary, as well as the VFW and the Navy League.  Renner attends Southpoint Community Church and he and his wife reside in Palm Coast.
