PEJ: Most covered politicians of 2011 include 6 Republicans, 4 Democrats

A new study by the Project for Excellence in Journalism (via Romensko) shows that Gabrielle Giffords’ appearance in the news this week was no anomaly. The Arizona congresswoman, recovering from a gunshot wound to the head, is second only to President Barack Obama as the most covered politician of 2011. Behind Giffords is Anthony Weiner, who is followed by six Republicans, several of whom are running for the GOP presidential nomination. Rounding out the top 10 is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
