Claude Mueller, who formerly served the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation as Director of Property and Casualty Financial Oversight, joined the law and governmental consulting firm of Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky, Abate & Webb in December 2012.

“With over two decades of experience, Claude will bring substantial depth and strength to our Florida and national insurance regulatory team,” said firm Managing Partner Mike Colodny.

Mueller, a non-attorney, has devoted his entire career to the insurance industry, specializes in regulatory compliance, statutory insurance accounting, insurance company operations and related legislative advocacy.

During his tenure with the Office of Insurance Regulation, he was frequently called upon to represent Florida’s Insurance Commissioner at meetings of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.  He worked closely with Florida’s Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation and the Florida Hurricane Catastrophe Fund, and was noted for designing and implementing an award-winning Web-based disaster reporting system for tracking the impact of catastrophes on insurer insolvency.

At the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, Mueller’s 55-member bureau supervised on-site insurer financial examinations, licensure application review, and desk audit analysis of insurer financial statements and other required filings.

Prior to that, he worked for Aetna Casualty and Surety Company, and also spent time at a life, health and employee benefits agency in Tallahassee.
