Florida TaxWatch, the independent government watchdog, has added new members to its respected research and analysis team.

As Florida’s economy continues to grow, the need increases for quality data for investors and a better-educated workforce, according to a statement by Florida TaxWatch CEO Dominic Calabro.

“Now, more than ever,” Calabro said, “it is critical that taxpayers have a trusted nonpartisan watchdog group to keep them informed.”

New Florida TaxWatch team members include:

Gwynn Virostek as vice president of development, in charge of promoting strategic businesses partnerships. Virostek is a former bank executive and comes from Haven Hospice of North Central Florida.

Steve Petty as chief economist. A former college economics professor, Petty will spearhead economic analysis of state and local government taxation, expenditures, policies, and programs. Prior to joining Florida TaxWatch, Petty conducted financial research and analysis for private finance firms.

Kyle Baltuch joins Florida TaxWatch as an economist. A recent graduate of Florida State University, he most recently was Florida TaxWatch’s Neil S. Crispo fellow. Baltuch will help identify economic opportunities in the Sunshine State and support a variety of economic development projects.

Joshua Gabel is the group’s new outreach coordinator. A former campaign staff member of Gov. Rick Scott and Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, Gabel will work with supporters and outside organizations to develop research and event opportunities.

Calabro also announced Morgan McCord would move up to director of communications.
