Personnel note: Florida TaxWatch officially announces hiring of Chris Barry, Kathleen Hampton, Jennel Pendleton

Florida TaxWatch has officially announced the addition of three new staff members to Florida TaxWatch:

Chris Barry joined the TaxWatch staff last fall in the role of Communications Coordinator.  Chris comes to TaxWatch after spending the past three legislative sessions with the Governmental Affairs department of The Nature Conservancy, and the Florida Trucking Association. Prior to those positions, Chris worked for former State Senator Alex Villalobos, the Department of Community Affairs, and ADG Business and Governmental Consultants. As Communications Coordinator, Chris will be responsible for the visual side and distribution of TaxWatch research and publications, as well as acting as the point of contact for news releases and press inquiries.

Jennel Pendleton joins Florida TaxWatch as the new Director of Membership and External Relations. With over 13 year experience in membership, fundraising, event management and marketing she will assist in growing membership throughout Florida and providing informative meetings to the membership base. She began her career in the private sector as a Marketing Manager for an international technology company headquartered in Northern Virginia. After moving to Chicago Jennel turned her focus to the non-profit world and began volunteering her services. Five years ago her family moved to Tallahassee and she joined Goodwood Museum and Gardens as their Membership and Development Coordinator. Prior to Florida TaxWatch she held the Regional Coordinator position at theAmerican Lung Association in Florida. Jennel holds a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and is an active member of the community.

Kathleen Hampton joins Florida TaxWatch as the Executive Director of the Prudential-DavisProductivity Awardsprogram.  Kathleen will manage and coordinate the program’s annual nominations, sponsors, and awards activities.  Kathleen brings with her over 20 years of management experience in event planning, advertising, sales, and marketing.  Ms. Hampton is a past recipient of a Prudential-Davis Productivity Award for her work at the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.  Prior to joining Florida TaxWatch, Kathleen was the Office Manager with the Leon County Research and Development Authority at Innovation Park.

Peter Schorsch is the President of Extensive Enterprises and is the publisher of some of Florida’s most influential new media websites, including,,, and Sunburn, the morning read of what’s hot in Florida politics. SaintPetersBlog has for three years running been ranked by the Washington Post as the best state-based blog in Florida. In addition to his publishing efforts, Peter is a political consultant to several of the state’s largest governmental affairs and public relations firms. Peter lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Michelle, and their daughter, Ella.
