Personnel note: Former TV reporter Whitney Ray new press secretary at DCF

The Department of Children and Families welcomes two new additions to its Communications Office effective today.

Secretary David Wilkins announced Whitney Ray as Press Secretary, effective immediately. Ray is a twelve-year veteran of the television news business. A former member of the Florida Capitol Press Corps, Ray covered the state legislature and issues crucial to children and families.

“I am pleased to welcome Whitney to our agency and know he will use his extensive news reporting experience to provide excellent information to the public,” said Secretary Wilkins. “We look forward to working with Whitney as we unveil new initiatives to combat public assistance fraud and prevent child abuse and promote child and family well-being.” 

Alexis Lambert, whose appointment was announced in April, has joined DCF as the Communications Director. Lambert was previously the Communications Director for Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater and has previously served as press secretary for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Agency for Workforce Innovation.

“Alexis has a wide range of experience and a track record of success in many areas of state government,” Wilkins said in his previous announcement.“Her deep marketing and communications experience with the CFO’s office will position her well to continue expanding this Department’s trend of proactive media and community involvement and represent our agency’s 12,000-plus employees and hundreds of business partners.”
