The Florida Retail Federation has named Samantha H. Padgett as general counsel for the non-profit trade association representing the retail industry in Florida. Padgett joined FRF as deputy general counsel in 2007 after a two-year membership in the Florida Attorney General’s Honors Program, where she practiced in the areas of civil appeals, antitrust, child support and administrative law. During her tenure at FRF, Padgett has managed issue advocacy efforts in the areas of labor and employment law, tort reform, business and professional regulation, emergency management, environmental law and regulation, and reemployment assistance.
“Samantha is a stellar attorney who has served Florida’s retail industry with distinction, and we are happy that she agreed to accept the additional responsibilities of general counsel. The Florida Retail Federation’s members are fortunate to have her representing their interests at the Capitol,” said FRF President and CEO Rick McAllister.
Padgett received her J.D. degree cum laude from the University of Florida College of Law in 2005, and received her B.A. from Emory University in 2001. As the chief legal counsel for FRF, Padgett advises the Board of Directors and executive staff on legal matters. Padgett is a member of The Florida Bar, and appears on behalf of FRF in court and administrative proceedings, advises on FRF’s compliance with federal and state regulations, and oversees outside counsel hired by FRF.
