Tampa attorney Wesley Tibbals has been appointed to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court by Gov. Rick Scott.
Tibbals, just 41-years old, has been an attorney and partner with Akerman law since 2000. Prior to that he practiced law with Siyyer, Barlow & Watson and Thomson, Sizemore & Gonzalez.
He served as a member of the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors from 2009 until 2011 and is a member of the University of Florida Law Alumni Council.
“Wes is a lifelong resident of Florida and has been practicing law for 17 years. His knowledge of the law and experience will be an asset to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court,” Scott said of the appointment announced Wednesday.
Tibbals will fill a vacancy created by Judge Debra Behnke, who resigned her post.
He brings to the table more than 15 years experience as a commercial and business litigator. He has broad experience in both federal and state courts handling business disputes, contractual claims, products liability and labor and employment issues.
Tibbals earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
