Political newcomer Mike Mikurak, in his bid for Pinellas County Commission, will be holding a mid-Nov. campaign fundraiser on Madeira Beach.
The event will take place at The Angry Pepper — 4330 Duhme Road — on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 5:30 p.m.
Mikurak, a 61-year-old Republican from St. Petersburg, is running for the county’s District 3 seat — an at-large seat, currently held by Democrat Charlie Justice, for which all of Pinellas votes on. The seat’s district encompasses most of St. Pete, and all of St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and Madeira Beach.
Aside from serving on Pinellas’ Juvenile Welfare Board — a post for which he was appointed to by Gov. Rick Scott in 2013 — Mikurak currently serves as the chairman of BayCare Health System’s Audit Committee. He’s also a member of BayCare’s Board of Directors, the CareerSource Pinellas Board, and theScience, Technology, Education and Innovation Center (STEIC) Board of Trustees.
Mikurak’s political platform revolves around three core principles:
- Creating sustainable jobs and economic development.
- Improving communications between Pinellas County, its cities, the county government, and the private sector.
- And focusing on citizens’ quality of life.
