It took almost three hours Tuesday evening but county commissioners hammered out an agreement with Paramedics Plus.
That’s the company that runs Sunstar, the providers of paramedic and ambulance service to the county.
The agreement, which was approved 4-3 by commissioners, renews the contract for two years with the option of adding a third year.
The new deal will save the county about $6 million.
The agreement also is good news for Paramedics Plus, which will be the exclusive EMS service provider for the county.
One proposal would have allowed firefighters to transport patients to hospitals but that was eliminated under this agreement.
